Review on the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G
I didn’t really know where to write this dang review because I couldn’t find a place to review product on T-Mobiles site, so I just decided to write it right here!
It all started Thursday, August 25th 2011 when I woke up, turned my phone on, and it was frozen. I took the battery out several times, tried to reboot it, and finally took it to the T-Mobile store. At the store, they tried to boot it up and realized it was a manufacturer defect. My options were to get the same phone or try the Sidekick. I went with the Sidekick because I really do miss having a keyboard for texting and writing. The very next day I received the phone and was so happy that I got it so quick!

Over the course of the next couple of days, my happiness diminished. The phone wasn’t as intuitive as the MyTouch 4G. It seemed that I had to go the round about way to get to something simple. If I wanted to add a contact to favorite, I had to go the long way about it. I said to myself, “I’m going to be patient. New phones take some adjusting.”
Things about the Sidekick 4G that bothered me:
-No flash on the camera.
-The camera options were not nearly as editable as the Mytouch.
- 3 out of 5 times I would use the camera, it would crash.
- 3 out of 5 times when I would access the internet, it would crash.
- The scroll / track pad would start scrolling by itself as though it was run by a ghost! Upon research, I discovered that it’s light sensitive so therefore, may not work effectively when you’re outside. Hmm… problematic because I love to be outside.
These are enough reasons for me to dislike the phone and highly recommend that others DON’T get this phone. Maybe I was just unlucky but this phone definitely left a lasting impression on me.
In the end, I’ve spent the past 48 hours with this phone and now realize how lucky I was to have my MyTouch 4G. I’m not sure why it decided to freeze up, but I’m going to take the risk and get the same phone I originally had and loved.
T-Mobile has been great with customer service throughout all of these phone troubles and the custom service is definitely one reason why I stay with them.
I’m so excited to get my MyTouch G4 back!
