Free to Roam: Low Hanging Fruit : Self Sabotage and the Making of a Professional Artist

terrisalynn:

A friend said something interesting to me recently.

He said the dream of being an artist that he grew up thinking would be such a difficult task was really “low hanging fruit.” All he had to do was reach out and - take it.

“Making it” in terms of engaging in money making projects, making…

Dream: cat heads, bird heads, and turtles

I dreamt that with my thumbs, I popped off a birds head and popped off a cat’s head and switched the heads on each other’s bodys. They ran around lost and confused. I chuckled and then put the heads back on the proper animal. I also dreamt I was looking for a place off the coast where turtles live. I was in the truck with a dangerous driver and just wanted to get there safely.  There were turtles everywhere around me.

Cross that off my "wide awake at 5:00am" list!

Want to get involved in our Denver fashion scene? This Fashion Denver Quickie will provide information on volunteer opportunities, designer resources, boutiques that support local designers, fashion schools, in Colorado, and more!

Up at the crack of dawn. 5:00am thoughts

A late evening workout at the gym on the bike, treadmill, and rowing machine and then a late dinner had me up at 3:00 tossing and turning and mind going wild with new ideas and old ideas. I tried so hard to go to sleep and ignore the thoughts in my head and the hunger pang in my belly but 90 minutes later, decided to get up. It’s 5:14a.m., the cat’s been fed, and I saw the first snowflakes fall. I ate peanut butter toast and almond milk and am thinking I’ll go back to sleep soon… I hope. I’ve got lots of meeting this afternoon and I must endure and be awake for them!

Maybe if I get my ideas out of my head and out into the world I can go back to sleep.

1) Create a Fashion Denver Freebie: 1 hour quick workshop on how you can get involved in the fashion industry. What boutiques carry local designers? How can you get involved in fashion shows and events around the town? If you’re a designer, what resources are available to you to grow your business?

2) Teaching our featured designers Wordpress and how it can be an excellent tool. Building your own website and creating social media to grow your business in a free / affordable way.

3) The new layout of the Fashion Denver space which will soon by my entrepreneurial shared space. I can’t stop thinking about the layout, the interior of the space, and all of the possibilities to FOCUS on my new goals.

4) Looking back on the past month to see the rollercoaster of exciting changes, acceptence of change, and moving forward with change. Here are my thoughts on the the transitions..

And really, that’s it. That’s what’s keeping me from sleeping. The snow is really starting to fall. I’d like to fall back to sleep by 6 and get up by 9:30. That should catch me up on sleep :)

Good Morning!

You can’t schedule your bursts of inspiration!

Sunday afternoon thoughts on inspiration…

Today I made 4 handbags

And remembered just how much I love designing…

Oh! And this one too…

That felt really good!

Changes into the new year…

I haven’t been blogging much lately but it has been because I’ve been too busy being focussed on so many things that I haven’t had time to focus on 1. And that’s all changing! I’ve decided to close down the retail side of Fashion Denver, still focussing on the fashion markets, fashion events, etc., but my true passion is entrepreneurship, consulting, and spreading the message to do what you love and love what you do.

I’ve made a conscience decision to focus on these things that I love to do. You can read my brain unramblings at http://www.dowhatyoulove.us

Today was a breakthrough day! I started my first book and got the first chapter done. It’s hard not to be inspired when this is the view…

I’m so excited to finally spend time on the things that I love to do. Being a shop owner is hard work and needs constant attention. It’s been such a learning experience having a shop. I tried it, I did it, and I shall close the chapter on that part and move on to the things that I truly want to do :)

2012 is going to be a great year. If we all continue to make decisions that support what we truly want to do. Stop wasting time on things we don’t LOVE and start spending time on things that we LOVE.

Gift Idea#2 for the Star Wars lover.

This is one of my favorite men’s shirts at the shop! Perfect for the Star Wars lover!!
